Miss Arabella Applegate
Had a single mission,
Which was to stay up way too late
Watching television.

In spite of all that Momma said,
She'd answer back and fight;
When Poppa ordered her to bed
She'd still sit up all night;

Till one time while her parents snored
She crept downstairs alone;
"Can't sleep," she said. "I'm really bored:
I'll watch the Twilight Zone."

When Mom went down at six o'clock
She found her daughter prone:
A statue carved in cold gray rock,
An effigy in stone!

Thus Arabella got her way,
(A melancholy fable)
For now she serves as TV tray-
Cum-television table.
